GOVERNANCE

The United Way of Jamaica is an autonomous private voluntary organization with a 45- member Board of Governors which makes all policy decisions. The Board meets quarterly.

There is an Executive Committee which meets monthly between Board Meetings and implements the decisions of the Board. Decisions of the Executive Committee are reported to and ratified by the Board.

The members of the Executive Committee are the Chairmen of Standing Committees and three others. The Standing Committees are:

	Mr. Noel DaCosta Chairman of the Board, United Way of Jamaica Noel daCosta is the Corporate Relations Director, Central America Free Trade Ecuador & Caribbean (CAFEC) at Diageo and former Chairman of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce. He envisioned the United Way of Jamaica as an antidote for some of the major threats within the Jamaican society: crime and violence and the deterioration of human relations and has called on voluntary organizations to unite and help stem the social decay taking place in our country.
